Amani Talwar is a Research Associate II at CSAL. Amani has over five years of experience in quantitative research in adult literacy. Before this position, she was affiliated with CSAL as a Dean's Doctoral Research Fellow since August 2014. Prior to her work at Georgia State University (GSU), she was a Research Assistant at the Reading and Cognition Lab at Mount Holyoke College, where she worked on projects involving the spelling and composition skills of students enrolled in Adult Basic Education classes. Amani earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education at Mount Holyoke College. She also earned a Master of Science in Educational Psychology at GSU and received the award for Outstanding Master's Thesis in Educational Psychology. Her thesis investigated the influence of memory capacities on the reading comprehension performance of adults who struggle with reading. She is currently working on her PhD in Educational Psychology at GSU. Her research focuses on models of reading comprehension for struggling adult readers.
